Pennsylvania: City of Philadelphia Attempts to Force NRA Affiliated Range Out of Business
For 77 years, the Holmesburg Fish and Game Protective Association has served sportsmen and gun enthusiasts. However, several months ago the City of Philadelphia sent notice to the Holmesburg Fish and Game Association that its long existing property lease would not be renewed, effective January 1, 2008. Tonight, City Councilman Frank Rizzo will be in attendance at the Association’s General Meeting to discuss the possible closure of the range facility and/or possible solutions for a contract renewal. Please plan on attending this important meeting.

California: Microstamping Bill Heads Back to Assembly for Final Vote!
On Thursday, September 6, the California Senate passed Assembly Bill 1471 by a 21-17 margin. This legislation requires require that after a certain date, the make, model, and serial number of the firearm be microstamped onto the interior surface or internal working parts of all handguns in such a manner that those identifiers are imprinted onto the cartridge case upon firing. Under AB1471, the manufacture, sale, and transfer of handguns that do not include their identifying information would be a crime. Please contact your Assemblymember today and respectfully ask him or her to oppose AB1471 when it comes before them for a final vote. Contact information for your Assemblymember can be found by visiting http://www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset7text.htm.

Bill Seeks to Make Animal Abuse Equal to Domestic Abuse in Wisconsin
Introduced by State Senators Fred Risser (D-26), Tim Carpenter (D-3), and Julie Lassa (D-24), Senate Bill 162 seeks to make “harm or threat of harm” to an animal a form of domestic abuse, potentially meaning the loss of one’s Second Amendment rights. SB 162 is outlandish because it not only equates animals to humans, but it does not include a definition of what “harm or threat of harm” is. Animal “rights” extremists could consider the training of hunting dogs or everyday treatment of dairy cattle to be “abuse.” Please contact the members of the Senate Committee of Judiciary and Corrections and respectfully urge them to vote against SB 162 when the time comes.

Please contact City Councilman Sigerson and thank him for protecting our Second Amendment rights.

10/22 stock

Hyper-velocity bullets 10/22 stock have a muzzle velocity of 425 to 550 m/s (1400-1804 ft/s)and this velocity is partially due to the light bullets they use. The bullets are usually around 30 grains 1.9-2.2 grams in weight. However there is a round that is classified as “hypervelocity” that utilizes a 40 grain (2.6g) projectile. This cartridge, called the Velocitor is manufactured by CCI, owned by Alliant Corporation, it has a muzzle velocity of 1,435 ft/s (450 m/s). This cartridge utlizes a conventional case size, as opposed to the longer case used by a stinger. The Velocitor uses a proprietary Gold Dot hollow Point to augment 10/22 stock and trauma when hunting, this special hollow point is used to keep the bullet’s full 40 grains. Whereas in many other hunting cartridges weight is reduced to make a hollowed out point, or a hollow point. Special shot cartridges, usually loaded with #12 shot (see shotgun shell) in a .22 LR caliber have also been made and these are ideal for pest control at very short ranges. Such rounds will either have a longer brass case that is crimped closed, or a translucent plastic “bullet” that contains the shot and shatters upon firing. In specially-made .22 bore shotguns, the shotshells can be used for short range skeet shooting and trap shooting at special, scaled-down, clay targets.
