ar15 Scope Rings & Scope Mounts 2010-07-07 15:06:21

A few notes: before November, 1981, BATF did not consider the drop-in AR-15 Accessories sear to be a machine gun in itself, because you had to replace all the internal parts with M-16 parts, as well as install the sear, and thus it didn’t convert the AR by itself. However in ATF Ruling 81-4, BATF changed its mind about what a thing had to do in order to be a conversion part, grandfathered all AR sears made before the ruling, and decided all made after that needed to be registered. HOWEVER, the fact that the sear itself, if made before 11/81, and sold through ads in Shotgun News to this day (they sure made a lot of ‘em back then, or maybe not) is not required to be registered, DOES NOT mean you may install it in an AR-15 Accessories, or even possess it with an AR-15 Accessories rifle. Either scenario is a machine gun also, and also needs to be registered. Except of course you cannot register it anymore, and thus it is just a millstone, waiting to send you to a federal prosecution. And that exact scenario has been the basis for many prosecutions.

beretta mini-cougar magazines

Like JohnStoner, I have two M9A1s with beretta mini-cougar magazines. Accuracy, reliability, and totally dependable in all weather- snow, rain, dry, heat and dust- whatever, NEVER a problem. About 4,500 rounds fired between the two of them. I've retired my Kimber 1911s, in favor of my Berettas. The Kimbers are strictly for loan WHEN TSHTF... The M9A1 is my "go to" handgun, and unlikely to change.

Yeah, you want two. One for each hand. That gives you forty-two shots before reloading, and two different direcions to shoot... Easy with a 9mm, but try it sometime with a pair of 9.5" Ruger Super Redhawks! I have, but I'll stick with the M9A1's, thanks... In all seriousness, the 9mm with the proper ammo, AND proper placement, is just as well going to take-out the trash, as my dusty Kimber Beretta 92 Magazine. I won't change back- no reason to.

Nope, the M9A1 is the choice of the Marine Embassy Security Details, and my choice as well... So too, are the Mec-Gar 20rd Anti-Friction Coated magazines, and the Pro-Mag 33rd Beretta 21Magazines, though I load only 32 in mine... Both magazines fit both of my CX4 Storms perfectly...

rparrish, I use Gold Dots, both 124gr and 147gr, and know that whatever I hit, is going to go d-o-w-n... Having 21 rounds in either gun, makes for a warm feeling... I can't really imagine a "real life" scenario for using 32rd magazines, but WHEN the SHTF, who knows? Having interchangable magazines with the CX4s, is a "good" thing...

To those who would try to compare the 1911 to the M9A1, I'd say, "beretta mini-cougar magazines, to yah, Buddy!" and "Why have only 11, with a Chip McCormick mag, when you can have 21?" Nah, that'd be petty. As I say, mine, my Kimber 1911s are now for loan-out when the SHTF... My best, I'm keeping for myself...

Rifle Scopes

Based on this I did the best I could to get my reticle into something. It is no secret that I have not been satisfied with the quality of the Rifle Scopes from China. The report I just received form one of my field testers at Fort Bragg on the latest CRS from China was not good. Therefore I have terminated any further production of the CRS from China.
I am working on having a 1x4 CRS made in South Korea and a 1x6 made in Florida. I was hoping Trijicon Rifle scopes would look at my reticle for their new TR24 Accupoint but as of now it seems they are not interested. S&B did not want it for their Short Dot and Swarovski was not interested in my reticle for their Z6. Any of these scopes would be a excellent package for this reticle.
I haven't given up. I'm still trying to get my reticle into a good quality CRS.

Vietnam manufactures M16 and M4 rifle clones!

I came across Imperial Defense, a British company, who manufacturer M16 and M4 clones.

Imperial Defense MG4A6 (M4 Commando clone)

According to this post at the MP.net forum, the guns are manufactured in Vietnam! This makes Vietnam the second communist country to manufacture M16s.

I would guess that the guns are copied off China's Norinco CQ 5.56 (M4A1 clone).

This is not the first time a Vietnam company has manufactured clones of Western weaponry. They notably manufacture a Lee Enfield clone, the AIA M-10, much to the frustration of American Lee Enfield enthusiats who cannot import the rifle due to BATFE rules which ban firearm imports from Vietnam.

Has China developed a PDW based on the QBZ-95?

UPDATE: I was wrong. This is the QBZ-95B (The sailors white gloves are covering the barrel).

Earlier this month there was a huge military parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of People's Republic of China. I was astounded to see a photo from the event of what appears to be a sub-carbine version of the QBZ-95 being carried by Chinese sailors.

Photo originally from O.cn via. MP.net

To the best of my knowledge the existence of this weapon has never been reported. The barrel is definetly shorter than the 14.5" of the QBZ-95B (Carbine) that was developed for use in the Navy. I suspect the sub-carbine / PDW has a 10" or 11" barrel.

Has anyone here heard of a QBZ-95 PDW?

Thanks to Caleb for sending me the link to the Chinese parade photos.
